Around 170 people, including women and children have fell victim to brutal “executions” in Burkina Faso
The attacks targeted three villages – Komsilga, Nordin, and Soro – prompting the public prosecutor, Aly Benjamin Coulibaly, to appeal for witnesses in efforts to identify the perpetrators.
The assaults occurred in Yatenga province on February 25, with an investigation underway.
The country, grappling with insurgency control over more than a third of its territory, witnessed the military seizing power in 2022.
The recent attacks, distinct from other acts of violence in various regions, remain unclaimed by any specific group.
As Burkina Faso faces an alarming surge in Islamist threats, the army’s heightened warning includes concerns about suicide attacks and potential large-scale assaults on urban centers.

Despite the military’s promise to combat rebels following the coup, insecurity persists, pushing over two million people from their homes and contributing to a humanitarian crisis characterized by neglect and widespread suffering.
The Institute for Economics and Peace recently highlighted the Sahel region, encompassing Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and others, as the new epicenter of terrorism in sub-Saharan Africa, emphasizing the urgent need for attention and intervention in one of the world’s most-neglected crises.
We pray for Burkina Faso, just like we pray for our dear country, Nigeria.
