1st Female Editor From Northern Nigeria, Islamic Professor Among Those Who Died In Saudi Stampede

    Two Nigerians have been confirmed to have died yesterday at
    the Saudi Hajj Stampede. The Nigerians are the first female editor from
    Northern Nigeria, Hajiya Bilkisu Yusuf, and one of Nigeria’s respected Islamic
    intellectuals, Prof. Tijani El-Miskin.

    Hajiya Yusuf was a journalist by profession and a political
    scientist by training and became the first editor to come from the North, while
    El-Miskin, was a professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies. He was among the 11
    candidates who last year vied for appointment as University of Maiduguri Vice
    Chancellor. El-Miskin was also the Chairman of Borno State Pilgrims Welfare
    Board.
