26 Year-Old Man Takes Own Life Inside Police Cell
Police in Nyahururu, Laikipia County, kENYA have launched investigations into the death of a 26-year-old man who was found dangling from the ventilation grills of the police cells.
According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, Gideon Mwangi had been arrested on Thursday, September 1, 2022, after he threatened to hack his father and brother with an axe.
He was being held at Ngarua Police Station where he was found to have committed suicide.
“While walking around the cells, Constable Samuel Oloshoe reported that he found the body of the deceased, Gideon Mwangi Mioge aged 26 years dangling from the ventilation of the cells,” the police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.
The axe that the deceased was intending to harm his brother and father was recovered during his arrest.
The body was moved to the Sipili Nursing Home morgue pending an autopsy.
