Reports say a deadly ambush by armed gunmen may have k!lled nine soldiers and a police officer in the Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State
Governor Nasir Idris confirmed the attack, which occurred on Tuesday night.
Eyewitnesses said the assailants struck in the Giro Masa community while security operatives were carrying out operations. The gunmen, reportedly active in the area for some time, had been traced to a construction company yard by security forces.
Following a tip-off from residents, soldiers were deployed to secure the site but were ambushed along the way. The attack resulted in multiple casualties among military personnel and the death of two civilians, with two military trucks set on fire.
Residents who spoke anonymously described the scene as chaotic and terrifying, leaving the local community in shock.
Military authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
