18-year old girl jumps into well in Kwara state

An 18-year-old girl, Waliyah, has been recovered dead from a well in Ile-Olodo in Ilorin West LGA of Kwara State.

According to Daily Trust, the victim jumped into the well shortly after a friendly conversation with neighbours.

Spokesperson of the service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, said the recovered corpse has been handed over to her family.

“On the 7th of November 2023, at 18:46 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to an emergency rescue operation in the Ile-olodo Ita Merin – Alore area of Ilorin, Ilorin West Local Government Area Kwara State,” the statement read.

“Tragically, an 18-year-old girl named Waliyah had drowned in a domestic well. The dedicated personnel of the Kwara State Fire Service successfully recovered her lifeless body and respectfully handed it over to Alhaji Adisa Akanbi Magaji of Ile Olodo, Ita-Merin, Ilorin.”
