GOP Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, 37, had emergency surgery to remove a blood clot from her leg, caused by a rare vascular condition called May-Thurner Syndrome.Congressswoman Lauren Boebert undergoes emergency surgery for blood clot

The surgery took place on Monday, with a stent inserted the following morning.

Boebert, seeking re-election in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District, halted her campaign temporarily after experiencing severe swelling in her left leg.

May-Thurner Syndrome, which affects a vein in the pelvis, can lead to deep vein thrombosis, possibly exacerbated by prolonged sitting.

Dr. Rebecca Bade, who treated Boebert, assured that patients typically recover well after such procedures.

Boebert’s campaign stated she is in good spirits and looks forward to returning to Congress after a brief rest.

The condition, more common in adults aged 20 to 50, has uncertain causes but may be linked to dehydration and extended periods of sitting.

Boebert received support from former Congressman George Santos, expressing gratitude to medical staff for her care.
