Victor Osimhen’s potential move from Napoli to Chelsea on transfer deadline day ultimately fell through
Despite negotiations, the parties failed to reach an agreement, leaving the 25-year-old Nigerian international in a difficult position.
According to Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, talks between Napoli and Chelsea broke down late in the window, with Chelsea’s new proposal being rejected.
Romano stated that Victor Osimhen will remain at Napoli but will not be part of the first-team squad due to a “completely broken” relationship.
Victor Osimhen had requested a wage package exceeding £300,000-a-week, which Chelsea was willing to discuss but ultimately went unanswered.
Meanwhile, Napoli had also been in talks with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli, with Osimhen agreeing to personal terms worth €30 million per season.
However, Napoli’s demand for an additional €5 million in bonuses led to the deal’s collapse.
Osimhen’s future now appears uncertain, with a strained relationship with Napoli coach Antonio Conte and limited options.
Although the transfer window in Saudi Arabia remains open until September 2, offering a glimmer of hope for a last-minute move.
