Alexis Ohanian, the 41-year-old Reddit co-founder and husband of tennis legend Serena Williams, revealed he had underwent surgery to remove potentially cancerous thyroid nodules.
He shared the personal health update on Thanksgiving, accompanying his post with hospital photos and pictures of his two daughters, 7-year-old Olympia and 15-month-old Adira.
“After tracking some suspicious nodules on my thyroid for the last 4 years, I recently had half of it surgically removed,” Ohanian explained.
He shared that the nodules were growing, and a recent biopsy indicated they were very likely to become cancerous.
Citing his family’s medical history, Ohanian noted that his mother had breast cancer around his current age and later passed away from brain cancer.
“I hate cancer,” he candidly stated.
Expressing gratitude, he confirmed that the surgery went smoothly.
“I wasn’t gonna take any chances. I’m extra grateful this Thanksgiving because I got the call this morning confirming that the half of my thyroid that was removed was indeed full of some gnarly nodules that were very likely to become cancerous.”
