The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) media head has addressed growing concerns over reported home invasions by EFCC officers

He emphasized that most break-ins are not carried out by genuine EFCC personnel, but rather by impersonators seeking to discredit the commission.
To combat this issue, the media head urged the public to verify the identities of individuals claiming to represent the EFCC. He also encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the commission’s dedicated 24/7 hotlines.
Despite the EFCC’s repeated denials of involvement in some reported invasions, public skepticism persists. Past instances where the EFCC initially denied involvement, only to be contradicted by later evidence, have contributed to this mistrust.
He said: “…most times they are not EFCC officers. I am telling you I have had cause to say that some of these kids that you see online… are not EFCC. People do that to discredit us… If someone comes and says ‘oh, I am from the EFCC’, ask him to establish his identity.”
