President Bola Tinubu has awarded the national honour of Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) on retired Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa, a former military governor of Kaduna State

The announcement was made on Thursday during a grand reception held as part of the President’s one-day working visit to Kaduna State.
While addressing guests at the event, Tinubu said, “Let me take this opportunity to correct an earlier omission. One of the names I didn’t mention in my June 12 address at the National Assembly is Colonel Dangiwa. I hereby confer on him the national honour of CFR.”
Dangiwa served as Kaduna State governor from August 1985 to June 1988 under the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. After retiring from the Nigerian Army in 1993, he became known for his outspoken views and later founded the Movement for Unity and Progress, a political party.
President Tinubu’s visit to Kaduna also includes the commissioning of several projects, including CNG-powered buses, a healthcare centre, and other infrastructure across the state.
