A 32-year-old man, Rasaq Gafar, was on Wednesday arraigned before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly threatening the life of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke

Gafar is facing charges of attempted murder, threat to life, and conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace. He pleaded not guilty to all counts.
According to the prosecutor, Matthew Ojei, the alleged offence occurred on July 12 in Ibadan. Gafar was accused of posting threatening messages directed at Governor Adeleke on various social media platforms.
Ojei noted that the actions contravened Sections 249(D) and 323 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The defendant’s lawyer, Mr. Marvelous Ojeleye, appealed for bail on liberal terms. Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted bail in the sum of N2.5 million with two sureties in the same amount.
She ordered that one surety must possess a landed property, while the other must be a close relative of the defendant.
The case was adjourned until November 13 for hearing.
