An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday remanded a 52-year-old man, Idowu Omodaratan, in a Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly def!ling an 8-year-old girl
The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, who did not take the plea of Omodaratan, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
Babalogbon adjourned the case until Oct. 7 for mention. The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of r*pe.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 27 at Abuja Camp in Ilawe-Ekiti.
Adeniyi said that the defendant allegedly def!led the girl in a bush where she went to ease herself.
“When the defendant was passing by, he saw her in the bush and took advantage of her, her shout attracted her mother and the defendant was arrested,” the prosecutor said.
Adeniyi said that the offence contravened Section 31 of the Child Right Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
