Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has insisted he will not delete controversial tweet he made about President Bola Tinubu
The activist had earlier branded Tinubu a “criminal” while reacting to the president’s claim during a state visit to Brazil that corruption no longer exists in Nigeria’s currency market.

Sowore, posting on his X handle, wrote: “this criminal @officialABAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is NO MORE corruption under his regime in Nigeria. What audacity to lie shamelessly!”
The comment reportedly drew the attention of the Department of State Services (DSS), which was said to have contacted X and Facebook about deactivating Sowore’s accounts. The agency also gave him a one-week deadline to delete the post and issue a retraction.
Unfazed by the threat, Sowore doubled down in a fresh post: “Even if you give me till the end of Tinubu’s tenure in 2027, I will NOT retract my statement.”
