Kirk was struck in the neck by a bullet fired from a nearby building while hosting a stop on his American Comeback Tour. He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.
News of his d3ath has sparked an outpouring of grief and condemnation across the political spectrum.
Former President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, and several other leaders have expressed condolences and called the attack an assault on free speech.
Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI and ATF, are still searching for the shooter. Authorities say the suspect remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
