Prince Harry has returned to the U.K. and reunited with his father, King Charles III, at Clarence House for the first time in more than a year – a meeting that could mark a step toward reconciliation
The Duke of Sussex arrived at his father’s London residence around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday in a black SUV, where the two reportedly shared a private tea and held a 55-minute conversation.
Harry’s trip has been eventful — he attended the WellChild Awards and visited Queen Elizabeth II’s burial site to mark the anniversary of her passing — before heading to London for the long-awaited face-to-face with the King. The last time they met in person was in February 2024, shortly after Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis.
The father-son relationship has been strained in recent years, particularly over security arrangements after Harry lost publicly funded protection in 2020 when he stepped back from royal duties and moved to California with Meghan Markle.
Despite the tension, Harry recently expressed a desire to mend ties with his father and move past the rift. He has spoken of his happiness with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, and is hopeful that this meeting will help ease lingering royal tensions.
