Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has announced that the massive pot used for her record-setting feat — the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice — will not be sold or auctioned
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday at Gino Nigeria’s Lagos office, Baci revealed that the pot will be restored to its original state and placed on public display, possibly in a museum or another accessible space.

She explained that the pot has grown beyond its practical use, becoming a symbol of history, faith, and creativity. Baci emphasized the effort and innovation that went into its creation, saying she hopes it will inspire generations to come.
“Oh, you may not have heard of it. Trust me, so many people have asked about that pot. Some want to buy it, some say we should auction it. But we’re not going to sell it. We’re going to make sure as many people as possible get to see it in its glory,” she said.
According to her, the pot represents Nigeria’s culinary culture and heritage and deserves to be preserved for the future.
Baci made history on September 12, 2025, in partnership with Gino, by setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz).
The event drew a massive crowd, including celebrities such as Funke Akindele, Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, and dancer Kaffy, turning Victoria Island, Lagos, into a major celebration of Nigerian cuisine.
This milestone follows Baci’s 2023 cook-a-thon, where she cooked continuously for over 100 hours, cementing her place as one of Nigeria’s most celebrated culinary figures.
