Victor Osimhen has entered the record books as the first Nigerian to score 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League
The 26-year-old forward achieved the milestone on Tuesday night, netting a 16th-minute penalty in Galatasaray’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in Istanbul.
The strike not only delivered a vital victory for the Turkish side but also secured Osimhen’s place in Nigerian football history.
Previously, Obafemi Martins held the national record with nine goals in the competition, while legends like Nwankwo Kanu and Jay-Jay Okocha never reached double figures.
Osimhen’s goal against Liverpool highlighted his rising stature in Europe and established him as Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in the tournament.
