Tragedy hit on Friday night as a road accident claimed lives and left several injured among students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) while they were travelling to Enugu for a Davido concert
Eyewitnesses reported that the bus carrying the students left Nsukka late at night despite having faulty headlights. Along the journey, it reportedly collided with a stationary trailer.
The crash immediately ki!led the driver and a student, Chukwuebuka Nwankwo.
Two 300-level students were knocked unconscious, while a final-year student is battling a serious brain injury.
Several others sustained injuries of varying severity and were rushed to Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka, for treatment. One of the victims is currently undergoing surgery for a fractured skull.
UNN’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Inya Egwu, confirmed the incident and said the university would release an official statement shortly.
