The confrontation began when Nwabali sent Lege a DM on Instagram, asking him to remove his late father’s name from his mouth.
His DM to Lege reads: “LegeMiamii, remove my late dad’s name from your mouth if you’re doing your content. If you don’t respect people’s dad, you should learn to respect the dead. I’m not your regular type of footballer. I’ll beat you mercilessly. You’re free to insult me, but leave my late dad out of it.”
His message conveyed both anger and deep hurt, emphasizing that invoking the name of a deceased parent is beyond acceptable limits.
In response, Lege sent a lengthy voice note back to Nwabali. In it, he began by apologizing for mentioning Nwabali’s father. However, he did not stop there.
Lege went on to criticize the goalkeeper’s conduct on the pitch, accusing him of being excessively controlling and arrogant with his teammates.
He said Nwabali disregards instructions and tries to act like a “big man” on the field, pointing out that his behavior negatively impacts team dynamics.
Lege also expressed frustration over Nwabali directly messaging him, saying he was not in a position to confront him in such a manner.
He further warned: “Don’t ever come to my DM again. If not because of Osimhen and Bassy, I would rubbish you.” He urged Nwabali to issue a public apology to Nigerians for his actions, implying that humility and respect were necessary in handling the matter.
