Hon. Yisa Gideon (APC/Edu), a lawmaker representing Edu constituency in Kwara House of Assembly has been suspended for three months over undisclosed alleged contemptuous act against the House
The suspension of Gideon was announced by the Assembly Speaker, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu during proceedings, on Thursday in Ilorin.
The Kwara Assembly speaker said the suspension was with immediate effect.
According to the Speaker, the suspension was in line with the provisions of section 14 sub section 2 of the Legislative Houses (Powers and Privileges) Act 2017.
The speaker also directed that Gideon should write a letter to apologise to the House while on suspension.
While presenting the motion without notice, the House Leader, Abdukadir Mogaji, said that the suspended lawmaker was accorded fair hearing but did not disclose the nature of the alleged contempt.
Mogaji said that Gideon was given the opportunity to appear before an ad hoc panel set up by the legislative to answer to allegation of contempt levelled against him and admitted to the infraction.
