Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to creating state police structures across the country, insisting the plan will not be delayed
The President made the pledge on Monday during an interfaith Iftar with governors and senior government officials at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Abuja, marking the first breaking of fast for the 2026 Ramadan season.

Addressing concerns about insecurity, Tinubu assured that his administration remains resolute in decentralising policing to strengthen security at the grassroots.
“What I promise you will not be postponed. We will establish state police to combat insecurity,” he declared.
Beyond security, the President also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s economic direction, stating that the country has moved past a difficult phase.
“We are out of the woods. We are out of the dark tunnel of uncertainty. The economy is showing up.”
