President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is holding a high-level meeting with leaders of the organised Labour at the State House, Abuja, alongside several state governors, to discuss broad labour concerns and the state of the nation’s economy
A reliable Presidency source confirmed the engagement to The Nation on Tuesday.
“President is meeting the Labour Guys with the Governors,” the source told The Nation. On the focus of the talks, the source added: “It’s about general labor issues and economy.”
The meeting, which began mid-morning, comes ahead of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Strategic Summit scheduled later today at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, and amid heightened discourse on economic policy and workers’ welfare.
A key subject expected to dominate discussions is last week’s signing of Executive Order 9, a directive aimed at correcting a financial breach in the Federation accounts within the oil and gas sector.
The Executive Order seeks to strengthen governance over revenue flows from the nation’s most critical revenue stream, protect shared revenue allocations to all tiers of government, and plug systemic leakages that have long weighed on public finances.
