North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reportedly secured an overwhelming victory in the country’s 2026 parliamentary elections, with state media claiming he received 99.93% of the vote and won all available seats
The elections, held on March 15, were conducted to select representatives for the 15th Supreme People’s Assembly, with authorities announcing an almost total voter turnout of 99.99%.

According to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), candidates endorsed by the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea, including Kim Jong-un, dominated the polls with near-unanimous support.
The National Election Commission stated that turnout stood at 99.98%, with just 0.07% of ballots recorded as either invalid or cast against the approved candidates — the highest level of backing reported in recent election cycles.
State media described the outcome as a powerful show of unity, portraying it as proof of the unwavering loyalty of citizens to Kim Jong-un and the country’s leadership.
However, Western governments and independent observers have dismissed the process as non-competitive, highlighting the absence of opposition candidates and the tightly controlled nature of the voting system, where secrecy is widely questioned.
The newly formed assembly is expected to meet on March 22 to confirm key leadership positions and approve major policy decisions already shaped by the ruling authorities.
Further updates are anticipated from Pyongyang as proceedings unfold.
