The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially announced Friday, March 20, 2026, as the day for Eid-El-Fit
The declaration was made on Wednesday evening, following the non-sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon in Nigeria.

Eid-El-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan—the Islamic month of fasting—is widely celebrated by Muslims worldwide with prayers and festive meals.
This announcement aligns with Saudi Arabian authorities, who also confirmed on Wednesday that the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted, setting Friday as the day for the celebration.
