Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has resigned from office
His spokesperson, Ibrahim Shuaibu, confirmed the development on Friday, noting that the resignation had been officially communicated.
“Yes, it is true. The deputy governor has resigned from his position,” he said, without giving further details.

Although no reason was provided, the move follows rising tensions between Gwarzo and the Kano State House of Assembly. In recent days, lawmakers had raised allegations of misconduct against him, including concerns related to the discharge of his duties.
The Assembly had also begun steps seen by observers as a build-up to possible disciplinary action, sparking fears of a political crisis within the state.
The resignation comes amid ongoing political shifts in Kano, following Governor Abba Yusuf’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress, which has reshaped the state’s political landscape.
