Nigerian LGBTQ+ and immigration activist Edafe Okporo has announced that his marriage to husband Nick Giglio has come to an end, three years after they exchanged vows
Okporo, originally from Warri, Nigeria, has established himself in the United States as a prominent voice for LGBTQ+ rights and immigrant advocacy. He and Nick tied the knot in July 2022, a union that attracted considerable attention, and now their separation is similarly drawing public interest.

On Friday, March 27, Okporo shared the news on Instagram, posting a photo of their hands clasped together alongside a joint statement from both him and Nick. The message conveyed their decision with calmness and dignity, reflecting their desire to navigate the difficult moment respectfully.
“Nick and I have made the mutual decision to end our marriage. We have officially filed for a no-fault divorce by mutual agreement. This has been a hard decision, and we are taking the time and space we need to move through it with honesty and respect,” the statement read.
The couple also asked followers to respect their privacy and avoid taking sides. “You’re welcome to continue holding space for both of us, together or separately,” they added, signing off simply as Nick and Edafe.
The announcement quickly gained traction online, with followers expressing support and well-wishes as the two move forward on separate paths.
