Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Face, is optimistic about the worldwide future of Afrobeats, dismissing any doubts about the genre losing its global appeal.

Speaking with Yaw on Wazobia FM Lagos, the “African Queen” singer noted the depth of talent among Nigeria’s young musicians as a guarantee that Afrobeats will continue to flourish.

“Afrobeats can never die. If you listen to some of the young Afrobeats artists now, you will agree with me that the genre is in safe hands,” 2Face said.

He also expressed admiration for the fresh interpretations of his classic hits by rising stars.

“Recently, one of the young artists, Fola, remade my song ‘If Love Is A Crime.’ I really loved it. Soft, smooth vocals. It is amazing. The present crops of artists have special flows. I love their styles.”

For 2Face, the new generation of Afrobeats musicians represents the energy and creativity that will keep the genre vibrant on the global stage.
