Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has pushed back against claims that she ordered the arrest of an online critic over a manipulated photo of her
The drama started a few days ago after Moyo addressed ongoing b%llying about her skin tone and alleged bleaching.
In response to the criticism, she shared AI-generated images showing her with a darker complexion, questioning why people seemed so invested in attacking her appearance.
She also pointed out that she is being judged for something she believes a large number of people quietly do as well.
Things escalated online after a Twitter user known as ScoobyDoe mocked the image and used it to caution others.
Shortly after, he claimed in a follow-up post that he had been arrested and detained at Area F Police Station in Ikeja.
According to him, the situation began as “banter” with the actress but allegedly led to police involvement, where he said he was held for over a week until his lawyer stepped in.
However, Moyo has now dismissed the claims entirely, insisting she had no hand in his arrest and would not misuse authority over online opinions about her.
She made it clear that the story circulating was false and emphasized that she respects people’s rights to express themselves, even when it involves criticism of her.
She wrote: “If she were to arrest someone, the public would know who she would arrest.
“There is always a false narrative about her online,” she said and simply urged critics to back off, saying they should “let her be.”
Moyo maintained that the situation has been blown out of proportion and reiterated that she is not involved in any form of intimidation.
