Renewed Hope is a scam – Rauf Aregbesola

Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called on President Bola Tinubu to resign over what he described as worsening insecurity and deepening economic hardship in the country

Aregbesola made the statement while speaking at the ongoing ADC National Convention in Abuja, where he also described the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda as misleading and ineffective.

He said the ADC was formed as a “rescue mission” to restore governance and accountability, insisting that the ruling party had failed Nigerians.

According to him, the party is driven by the need to protect citizens’ rights and challenge what he called mismanagement of the nation’s resources.

“The ADC derives its existence from the aspirations and the values of the Nigerian people, who are tired of the deceit and colossal mismanagement to which this country is being subjugated,” he said.

Aregbesola also criticised the economic situation under the current administration, arguing that the cost of living has worsened significantly since 2023.

He compared exchange rates and fuel prices before and after the current government assumed office, claiming that both indicators have sharply deteriorated.

“The exchange rate, which was about 700 naira to the dollar… is now about N1,400. This is terribly devastating. The cost of a litre of fuel before this administration was between 185 and 238 naira… now it is about 1,400 per litre and still rising.”

He further accused the government of failing to address insecurity and economic challenges, insisting that Nigerians deserve better leadership.
