President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate’s approval to secure a fresh loan of $516,333,070
The request was contained in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and read during Thursday’s plenary session.
According to the communication, the loan is to be sourced from Deutsche Bank and will be used to support funding for the already approved Sokoto–Badagry 1,000km Super Highway project.
Tinubu urged lawmakers to treat the request with urgency and grant swift approval.
Following the reading, Akpabio directed the matter to the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts for review, with a mandate to report back within one week.
