Afrobeats superstar Davido is pulling back the curtain on what life in the spotlight really looks like and it’s not all glitz and glamour.
Speaking candidly, the singer admitted that while fame has brought him success and recognition, it has also created unexpected challenges for the people closest to him.
“I like fame, but it has its downsides,” he said. “My dad sends me fake blog stories, my sister changed her kid’s school due to constant disturbances over their famous uncle, and my daughter was bullied at her school just because her dad is OBO.”
Despite these difficulties, Davido’s story isn’t without its uplifting moments especially when it comes to his relationship with his father.
Reflecting on his early career, he shared how one of his breakout hits changed everything at home.
“When my dad heard ‘Dami Duro,’ he was overjoyed because it brought him more fame. People started calling him Baba Olowo,” Davido recalled.
That excitement soon turned into tangible support. “Later on, he brought the bag! He built me a world-class studio, and since then, he hasn’t missed a single one of my concerts or shows. He’s now my biggest fan.”
It’s a mix of pressure and pride a show that behind the fame, there’s a real family navigating both the perks and the challenges that come with global stardom.
