American singer and longtime Dr. Hook frontman Dennis Locorriere has died at the age of 76, bringing to a close a music career that spanned nearly six decades and reached audiences around the world.

According to TMZ, Locorriere died on May 16, 2026, with family and loved ones by his side following what his management described as a “long and courageous battle” with kidney disease.
A statement released by his team praised the singer’s determination throughout his illness, saying he faced the situation with “remarkable strength, dignity, and resilience.”
The statement also described him as a deeply loved figure whose presence impacted many lives.
“He will be remembered for his warmth, love, and the lasting impact he had on those around him,” the statement added, while the family requested privacy during their time of mourning.
Born in Union City, New Jersey, the American-born performer later made the United Kingdom his permanent home, spending more than two decades there while continuing to tour and engage with fans globally.
Locorriere became internationally recognized as the unmistakable voice behind Dr. Hook’s biggest records. During his career, he contributed to more than 18 albums both with the band and as a solo artist, collaborating with musicians and songwriters across different generations.
His soulful delivery gave life to memorable songs such as “Sylvia’s Mother” and “Carry Me, Carrie,” while global hits like “A Little Bit More” and “When You’re In Love With A Beautiful Woman” helped establish Dr. Hook as one of the era’s most celebrated acts.
