Fashion designer Veekee James has recounted the touching story of how her mother raised her and her siblings alone after the de.ath of their father, choosing not to remarry so she could focus entirely on her children.
According to Veekee, she has never seen her mother in a relationship with another man since losing her father.
She said even when her pastor asked if she wanted to remarry, her mother declined, saying her only priority was raising her children.
“I’ve never seen my mom date any man before. Since I lost my dad, my mom has never slept outside the house if it’s not night vigil. When my dad passed, my pastor asked if she wanted to remarry and she said no, she wanted to take care of us, her kids.”, she said.
She recalled how her mother worked tirelessly as a tailor in Ajegunle to make ends meet, sewing clothes for people while ensuring her children lacked nothing. Veekee said it was her mother who taught her tailoring, a skill that eventually became the foundation of her successful fashion career.
“My mom hustled so hard in Ajegunle. She made clothes for so many people. She taught me tailoring and advised me not to follow men.”, she added.
