An X user, Adeboye Samuel Adeyeye, popularly known online as Swanky001, who was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment over offences relating to cyberbullying, cyber-threats and online harassment involving singer Adekunle Gold and his family, has been given the option of paying a N1 million fine instead of serving the jail term
The Federal High Court in Lagos found him guilty on three counts after he pleaded guilty to spreading false and harmful claims online against the singer and his family.
According to the court ruling, he was sentenced to two years imprisonment on two counts and one year on another count, with the sentences to run concurrently.
However, the court granted him the option of a N1 million fine and also ordered him to desist from making further harmful or defamatory posts against the complainants.
