Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday visited with his major rival in the party’s presidential primary, former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi

Atiku emerged winner of the recently concluded ADC primary, defeating Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen to secure the party’s presidential ticket.
Amaechi had rejected the outcome of the exercise even before the official declaration of results, alleging that the process was marred by irregularities.

In his acceptance speech, however, Atiku appealed to Amaechi and other aggrieved members of the party to set aside their differences and unite ahead of the 2027 general election.
Details of Thursday’s meeting were still sketchy as of press time, with neither Atiku nor Amaechi addressing journalists on the outcome of the talks.
Party sources, however, indicated that the meeting may be part of ongoing efforts by Atiku to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders and secure Amaechi’s support ahead of the presidential poll.
