Plans for Kanye West and Travis Scott to perform in Reggio Emilia, Italy, this July have been called off after local authorities withdrew approval over security concerns.
A regional official, Prefect Salvatore Angieri, confirmed that the decision followed objections raised by members of the local Jewish community regarding Kanye West.
Officials also took into account previous cancellations of his performances in other countries.
Authorities pointed to the expected size of the crowd as another major reason for shutting down the event.
The cancellation marks a contrast to the reception the artists received in Italy in 2023, when they performed at Rome’s historic Circus Maximus before large audiences.
The Reggio Emilia lineup had also included acts such as The Chainsmokers, Rita Ora, and Swedish House Mafia.
Kanye West has seen several international appearances canceled in recent months, including a reported block on a London festival appearance linked to earlier antisemitic remarks.
Although he has recently issued public apologies and met with Jewish community leaders, Italian officials ultimately decided not to move forward with the show.
