Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his wife, Olori Mariam, has held a grand naming ceremony for their newborn twin sons in Ile-Ife, Osun State

The event drew members of the royal family, palace chiefs, relatives and several of the monarch’s queens, including Olori Aderonke, Olori Temitope and Olori Ashley, who gathered to witness the special occasion.

In line with Yoruba tradition, various symbolic items were presented and blessed during the rites. These included kola nuts, bitter kola, bananas, beans, sugarcane, dried fish, water, gin and cash, all used in prayers seeking divine protection, prosperity and good health for the children.

As proceedings continued, the names chosen for the twins were publicly announced.

The first child, Taiwo, received the names Adelowo, Adelanaire, Adejare, Adedunmininu, Ademola and Taiwo Omo Ooni Adeyeye Ojaja II.

His younger brother, Kehinde, was given the names Adeleye, Adelanaola, Adejuwon, Adedoyim, Adebola and Kehinde Omo Ooni Adeyeye Ojaja II.

The ceremony featured traditional music and cultural displays, creating a festive atmosphere as guests congratulated the royal couple on the arrival of their sons.

Following the naming rites, celebrations moved to a reception within the palace grounds, where guests were entertained with food, drinks and merriment.
