Actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has said that prayer alone is not enough to solve Nigeria’s challenges, including bad roads, insecurity, and poor healthcare
In a post shared on her page, she said many people misunderstand the role of prayer when it comes to everyday national issues.
She wrote:
“Dear African Christians, as we continue to pray, let us not confuse prayer with action. You cannot bind and cast away bad roads. You cannot rebuke a failing healthcare system into working. You cannot pray away the bandits who are terrorizing our lives.”
She explained that problems affecting society require practical solutions alongside faith.
“Physical problems require physical solutions. Spiritual problems require spiritual solutions. You cannot pray food onto your plate. Someone has to plant it, harvest it, transport it, cook it…”
Njoku added that areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, and economic development depend on planning, responsibility, and human effort, not prayer alone.
