Veteran actor, Baba Elesho, has disclosed that his wife is the head of his family structure.
Speaking during an interview, the actor shared a personal family experience involving his mother’s health challenges and how he handled a sensitive situation at home.
Elesho explained that his mother had battled an eye condition for years and had been staying with one of his younger siblings. Although she was not living under his roof at the time, he said he remained responsible for her welfare and regularly checked on her.

According to him, a visit to his mother revealed her discomfort with her living arrangements, which prompted him to take her back home.
“The day I went to bring her from my younger sibling’s home, I had gone there to check on her and perform my duty as a son. My mum said she would rather be thrown into the sea than remain where she was because she wasn’t comfortable there,” he recalled.
However, upon returning home with her, Elesho said he first informed his wife before bringing his mother inside the house, explaining that it was important to carry her along in family decisions.
He said he met his wife upstairs, greeted her respectfully, and informed her that they had a visitor.
After explaining the situation, he noted that his wife asked questions about what happened, giving him the opportunity to explain his mother’s condition and why he brought her home.
“It was on Sunday, I went upstairs to meet my wife, prostrated and told her I had a visitor. She asked who, I replied Alhaja,” he said.
“She asked what happened and I explained everything. I told her that my mum said if there was nowhere else to take her, I should throw her into the sea, and that was why I brought her,” he added.
Elesho concluded by stating that mutual respect defines their relationship, adding that his wife plays a central leadership role in their home.
“I came to speak with my wife first because she had to know about it. You own the home and your reactions matter,” he said.
