There was chaos at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) forcefully dragged activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, into custody following a court order remanding him at the Kuje Correctional Centre
The dramatic scene unfolded shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar directed that Sowore be remanded until Wednesday pending the hearing of his application challenging the revocation of his bail and the bench warrant issued against him.
Video footage from the courtroom showed heavily armed DSS operatives surrounding the activist and escorting him away as proceedings ended.
The remand order followed the court’s earlier decision to revoke Sowore’s bail over allegations by the DSS concerning public statements in which he allegedly referred to President Bola Tinubu as “a criminal” on social media.
