Nigerian comedian and content creator Deacon Famous has criticized some social media personalities who create content around relocation, accusing them of spreading misleading information about immigration.

He stated that many of those presenting themselves as experts are doing more harm than good by promoting unverified claims and supposed shortcuts to relocating abroad.

According to him, the trend is not only misleading hopeful migrants but could also be contributing to stricter immigration policies in countries such as the UK, Canada and the United States.

Deacon Famous maintained that immigration processes are constantly changing and should only be followed through official government sources rather than relying on online creators seeking views and engagement.

He also questioned the credibility of some individuals offering immigration advice, claiming that a number of them do not even have legal status in the countries where they currently reside.

He urged Nigerians planning to relocate to ignore so-called loopholes circulating online and instead consult official immigration websites for accurate and up-to-date information.

He said:

“You people are causing so much damage and setbacks, and you are part of the reason countries like the UK, Canada, and the U.S. keep changing their immigration laws because you keep exposing alleged loopholes online. Most of the time, the information being shared is inaccurate, and some of you don’t even have legal status in the countries you’re living in. Please keep calm and stop spreading misinformation.

Every country you want to travel to has an official website where you can get accurate immigration information. This is first-class information. I spoke with a mayor in the UK who confirmed this to me.”
