Actress Etinosa Idemudia says marriage and having children should not be seen as achievements, insisting that people should stop using them as the standard for measuring success.
Speaking in a recent interview, she described as the different ways society judges men and women.
According to her, “marriage is not an achievement, having children is not an achievement. If they’ve never called you Ashawo in this life as a woman, it means you’re not successful.
Women are often labeled as ‘Ashawo,’ even though there are men who also sleep with people to get what they want”, she stated.
The actress also noted what she believes separates successful actors from those who struggle in the industry. While hard work matters, she believes grace plays an even bigger role.
“The difference between successful actors and not successful actors. I feel like it’s grace. Hard work is part of it, but I can never say hard work is all of it”, she noted.
Etinosa also spoke about the values she hopes to pass on to her daughter, saying self-respect and self-worth would come before anything else.
“If I don’t teach my daughter anything, I will teach her how to respect herself, how to value herself.”
She said a woman who knows her worth is less likely to accept disrespect from anyone.
She encouraged women to stop comparing themselves with others and instead choose inspiration over envy while staying confident in their own value.
