Media personality Toolz has advised people who are planning to get married not to ignore how they are treated by their future in-laws, saying it can have a bigger impact on a marriage than many people realize.
Speaking during a recent episode of The Morayo Show, she said anyone whose potential father-in-law and mother-in-law clearly dislike them should take it as a serious warning rather than something that will eventually change.
She said, “If you’re not married and you meet your potential father-in-law and mother-in-law and they really don’t like you, don’t even try it.”
According to Toolz, many people convince themselves that such situations are not important, only to discover later that they can create lasting problems in a marriage.
She added, “Some people get into that situation and think it’s not a big deal. Well, it’s a big deal.”
Toolz also spoke about her own experience with family, describing her husband’s relatives as some of the best and saying they have been supportive throughout her marriage.
She noted that staying married for more than a decade has taught her that marriage itself is not always easy.
She said:
“Anybody married for more than 10 years knows it’s not easy because they’ve worked through many things, especially those moments when you begin to question why you’re even in the marriage.”
