Nigerian soldier Nzube ThankGod, popularly known as “DO ROAD GOOD SOLDIER,” has shared what he describes as one of the most important lessons he has learned during his years in combat.
In a video he posted, he recalled a piece of advice his father gave him about 14 years ago after praying for him, saying it is a principle he has followed whenever he neutralises a cr!minal, terrorist or bandit.
According to him, the advice has stayed with him throughout his years of service, and he hopes it will help young soldiers and other security personnel as they begin their careers.
He said:
“My people, this is my message to young soldiers. As soon as you pass out and return to your units, this is the secret I have used to survive. I work with young soldiers, and I don’t want them to die again.
The secret my father gave me about 14 years ago, after praying for me, was this: don’t rely on juju. Whenever you neutralise a cr!minal, terr0rist or b.andit, never remove anything from the person’s body.
Don’t take the person’s phone, wristwatch or anything at all. Leave the person with everything. Even the weapon the person was carrying, use your left leg to push it aside, pick it up carefully and hand it over to the authorities. They will take care of the weapon and the deceased.
Don’t remove anything from the person’s body. The reason is that a cr!minal is already cursed. Anything on the person’s body is cursed. If you take anything from the body, that curse will follow you because the person is already de.ad.
That’s why you hear that a soldier died unexpectedly. Let me tell you something. You can just see a bullet change direction on its own, or one small stone will hit it and it will divert straight towards you. Before you know it, they will say you are gone.
Let me tell you the truth. People ask why I don’t d!e. It is because I have kept this secret.
Look at this place.” (Pointing at his forehead). “I was hit here, and the b^llet came out through the side of my head. Another one entered my stomach and came out through my back.
This one happened at Jilly. Another b^llet is still inside my body in another location. But by God’s grace, I am still standing here talking to you today.
My advice is simple: don’t take anything from a dead body. I don’t want young soldiers to die again.
This advice is not only for soldiers. It also applies to the police, the NSCDC and every security personnel. Don’t take anything from anyone you have neutralised. Whatever is on that person’s body is not worth your life. Your life comes first.
During training, they teach you that your life comes first. This is the greatest secret I can share with young soldiers. People talk about juju, but in the bush you will meet people whose juju is stronger than yours. I’m not saying my grace is greater than theirs, but keep this secret.
The greatest gift I can give you as a young soldier is this. God bless you all, and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I love you all.”
