A 45-year-old man and his teenage daughter have d!ed after falling into an abandoned dry well in Yancibi Village, Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State
The Kano State Fire Service confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, ACFO Saminu Abdullahi.
According to the statement, the Tsanyawa Fire Service Office received a distress call on the evening of Monday, July 21, reporting that Abubakar Abdullahi and his 15-year-old daughter, Fiddausi Abubakar, had fallen into the well.
The statement said firefighters from the Tsanyawa branch immediately responded and attempted to rescue the victims but were unable to complete the operation due to darkness and difficult conditions at the scene.
It added that an emergency rescue team from the fire service headquarters was deployed early Tuesday to support the operation.
“Our rescue team successfully recovered the victims from the well. They were brought out unconscious and were later confirmed de.ad,” the statement said.
The Fire Service said the bodies were handed over to the Village Head of Yancibi, Shamsu Sani.
