Pastor Chukwuemeka Odumeje has appealed to people to stay away from ste.aling, saying the current economic situation has made the consequences far more dangerous than before.
Speaking during a church service, the cleric said growing frustration over the country’s economic hardship has left many people quick to react whenever someone is caught stealing. He warned that anyone who chooses that path now could end up facing severe mob punishment.
He said:
“If you st.eal, please I beg you in the name of God, this is not the best time to do it. It’s better you stop now because if you’re caught, the kind of punishment you’ll receive these days will be severe.
Many Nigerians are taking out their frustration over the hardship under Tinubu’s government on anyone caught ste.aling because you will suffer in vain.”
Odumeje urged people to avoid putting themselves in such situations, stressing that no one should risk their life or safety by engaging in theft, especially at a time when public anger is running high.
