The body of 20-year-old Favour Agbro, the Delta State woman who took her own life after allegedly being ra.ped by Odogwu of Asaba, has been exhumed for an autopsy as investigations into her de.ath continue
Human rights activist Israel Joe disclosed the development in a statement shared on his social media page, revealing that the post-mortem examination was carried out on Tuesday by the investigating team and qualified pathologists.
According to Joe, the exercise was conducted in the presence of all parties involved in the case, including the lawyer representing Ogbonna.
He explained that he and another activist had earlier travelled to Agbaro in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, where Favour was buried, to observe the preparations for the exhumation.
Joe said they met with Favour’s father and other members of her family, who coordinated arrangements for the body to be exhumed before the autopsy was conducted.
He also recounted an emotional moment during the exercise, revealing that Favour’s twin sister insisted on placing food at her graveside before the body was removed.
According to him, the twin sister brought bread and sardines, claiming Favour had appeared to her in a dream saying she was hungry.
The family’s request was granted, allowing the food to be placed in the grave before the remains were exhumed for the post-mortem examination.
“The autopsy has just been conducted on the deceased Miss Favour Agbro by the investigating team and competent pathologists with the presence of all parties, including the lawyer of Odogwu Asaba,” Joe wrote.
“Her twin sister had brought sardine and bread for late Favour, arguing that she appeared to her, saying that she was hungry.
“She wanted to put the food in the grave as she would be laid to rest immediately after the autopsy analysis by the pathologist in the presence of all parties. It was graciously granted amid wailings, agony, sorrow and tears.”
Joe appreciated members of the public for their support and solidarity with Favour’s family throughout the investigation.
“We wish to thank everyone for their support towards the investigations, and solidarity towards the family at this grievous time of their sudden grief occasioned by Odogwu Asaba. God bless you all. We shall follow up until justice is manifestly seen to have been done,” he said.
The findings from the autopsy are expected to aid investigators as they continue to examine the circumstances surrounding Favour Agbro’s de.ath.
