Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has stepped in to support veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu by covering the first phase of her medical bills as she continues to battle health challenge
The intervention was made public by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Dr. Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins, who expressed appreciation to the governor for responding to the actress’s situation.
In a statement made on his X account, JMartins wrote:
“His Excellency @alexottiofr have just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs ngozi nwosu to approve the first part of our medical bills.
While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible you can.
On behalf of the creative industry, we all Thank you immensely My leader.
Ndewo sir.”
Ngozi Nwosu, a respected actress with decades of contributions to the Nigerian film industry, has been battling health challenges, prompting calls for financial assistance to help cover the cost of her treatment.
While Governor Otti’s intervention provides immediate relief by covering the first phase of her medical expenses, appeals are still ongoing for additional support to help meet the remaining costs of her care.
The governor’s intervention comes just days after Nwosu made an emotional public appeal for financial support from her hospital bed. It was revealed that, the veteran actress had been hospitalised for three weeks and needed three life-saving surgeries estimated to cost ₦30 million, urging fans, colleagues and well-wishers to help her continue her treatment.
