A 15-year-old Suleja boy who staged his own kidnapping in a bid to extort ₦200,000 from his father has been arrested alongside his teenage accomplice, the Niger state Police Command have disclosed
It was learnt that the teenager, Kelvin Faga disappeared after attending church on 20 July 2026 and failed to return home. The following day, his family received a telephone call demanding a ransom of ₦200,000 and claiming the boy had been abducted.
Acting on the report made at B Division, Suleja, police detectives launched an investigation which led to tracing the missing teenager to a hotel in Suleja, where he was found in the company of 17-year-old Mayowa Ojewuyi, also known as Mayor.
Under interrogation, both youths confessed that they had carefully planned the self-abduction. Their intention, they admitted, was to collect the ransom money from Kelvin’s father and thereafter share the proceeds between them.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abiodun Wasiu said that the two suspects are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department, where further inquiries are continuing adding that they will be charged to court once the investigation is completed.
