The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has celebrated the arrival of his newborn daughter with a traditional naming ceremony at the Emese Court inside the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State
The colourful ceremony took place on Sunday, exactly seven days after Queen Oluwatosin Ogunwusi safely delivered the royal baby girl.
The occasion brought together members of the royal family, palace chiefs, traditional rulers, Yoruba cultural custodians, dignitaries and well-wishers who gathered to witness the naming of the latest member of the House of Oduduwa.
During the ceremony, the newborn princess was officially given the names Adelewa, Adeyele, Adeshikemi and Ayoade, Omo Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.
The names were announced by the Lowa Adimula of Ife, Oba Ademola Adeyeye, with the approval of the Ooni.
As part of the traditional rites, prayers and royal blessings were offered for the baby, while various Yoruba customs were observed to formally welcome her into the royal lineage.
